The It Is Written Medisonship is a floating clinic in the Solomon Islands. It brings much-needed medical help and the truth of God’s Word to people in need.
Vido Bae’s Struggle for Survival
Vido Bae, from Ughele Village, Rendova Island, lives in the Western Province.
Vido doesn’t have much, and struggles to provide for her young family. Recently,
she faced the greatest challenge of all.
Vido’s two-year-old son, Hadis, was terribly sick and needed help. Not knowing what to do, Vido managed to make it to a simple health clinic – a luxury many in her area do not even have. But with only basic resources, the clinic staff were unable to diagnose his illness, and couldn’t help him. They told Vido to take him to a hospital, where he could receive better care. But Vido couldn’t go.
The Local Need for On-going Medical Support
Many people in the Solomon Islands only earn about $3.50 a day, which often
doesn’t even provide the basics. A journey from an island village by motorised
canoe to a hospital can cost about one month’s wages to pay for the fuel. Since
most people can’t afford that, they just don’t go.
Vido couldn’t afford to get her little boy to a hospital. Instead, she just went home. Tragically, because he couldn’t get the care he so desperately needed, little Hadis died. This should not have happened! Everyone deserves good medical care and support. And you can help change situations like this!
